The Village

October9

Yeah, this dream had kind of a “The Village” theme to it.

Was living on a monastery-type compound, I think.  Somebody mentioned some book about “Secrets of the Universe” or “Unknown Matter” or something weird like that.  I think stuff happened next, but I don’t remember what… …until the end.

I’m running from two beasts(?): dogs, maybe?  (Oh yeah, did I mention this was all taking place on my old farm in Alhambra?)  Once I reach the front pasture the beasts stop.  I’m all, “What are they afraid of?”  So I’m hiding in the pasture wondering what is going to come out of the woods when a car drives by.  Then I realize it’s the cars?  Maybe we didn’t know about automobiles (that’s where the “The Village” theme comes from)…something like that.  (I should probably note here that I’ve never seen “The Village”.)

Anyways, not a few seconds after I see the second car drive by the road is packed with cars.  Not traffic-style.  These cars/trucks/semis aren’t going less than 55mph.  And that little two-lane with no shoulders is now 3 lanes.  Not widened, mind you.  The cars are scrapping each other as they pass (I remember watching a semi pass between another semi and a car, then, BAM.  A pile-up begins.  Before I know it there’s a wreck several cars deep and as far as you can see in both directions.

Then some guy comes out of nowhere and tries to explain something about why we should all leave the compound(?).  Somewhere along the lines of, “I’ve alread made more money than this wreck just cost.”  Something weird like that.

Ever woke up crying?

October5

I have once before…then again last night.  The three dreams last night went like this:

Jim and I were at some kind of camp-type thing.  I lost my key to the room, so I had to wait for him to do anything.  That’s about all I remember.

Leah and I went on some kind of mountain trip with church(?).  When everybody got back two people were missing: Leah was one of them.  This was made worse by the fact that it was really cold and snowy and such.  We formed search parties, but by that night we still hadn’t found anybody.  Again…all I remember.

I was at my parent’s, talking with my mother about something.  Clint comes up from upstairs and yells at me about using his soap and losing it, or something like that.  So I shoot back something about him being wrong and blah, blah, blah.  He goes back downstairs.  I feel bad and go down to apologize.  He sorta goes off on me again, so I start to go off on him again.  Then we just sit there for a  minute, then he says, “I don’t feel right.”  (I believe that statement had nothing to do with any other part of the dream.)  I start to tear up.  Then I wake up…

…crying.

Cheap(?) Gas

October3

That’s right, we’re finally under $3 for gas again.  …but is that really something to celebrate?

I’m still holding out for less than $2.50.  What’s a reasonable gas price in your mind?

UPDATED: Hip-hop library

October1

I really want The Ambassador’s new album “the Chop Chop”, but it hasn’t hit iTunes yet…if it hasn’t by next week, I might just break down and buy it straight from his site.  The only full album I bought was Rebel by Lecrae.

Got tracks from:

  • Trip Lee
  • da Truth
  • JR
  • The Washington Projects (originally Souljahz)
  • J Moss (miss Dawkins & Dawkins, first time I heard him)
  • Grits (followed these guys religiously back in the day)
  • Sho Baraka (never heard of him before)
…it’s been a long time.  I miss these guys.

The darndest things

September23

In response to finding out we were walking to the park instead of driving (our park is across the street…literally less than 100 yds), my girl says, “If we walk I’ll be too tired to run.”  O.o

Lice and blood

September20

…oh the joys of foster children and dogs.

(for the record: the lice refers to a child; the blood refers to the dog breaking his nail and a different child picking her scab)

And then there were 4

September15

That’s right, if you haven’t heard, Leah and I received two little bundles of cuteness a few days ago.

We hardly had time to miss our boy before they brought us two wonderful little girls.  Sadly I can’t go into any details, but I can’t avoid them altogether either.  :)

You want to see ‘em?  Then, come visit.  :P
